History The Adelaide College of Divinity Incorporated (ACD) was established in 1979 as an ecumenical consortium of theological institutions from the Anglican, Catholic and Uniting Churches, following a long history of cooperation in theological education among many denominations dating back 120 years. The ACD member colleges retained their own identity from the outset, while cooperating within the consortium for joint teaching of courses in theology. The Anglican and Catholic theological colleges withdrew from the ACD consortium in 2010. 2011 From 2011 the ACD is associated with the Uniting College for Leadership & Theology: the ACD provides accredited courses in its own right as a government approved Higher Education Provider and Registered Training Organisation, and Uniting College provides the teaching. Adjunct lecturers include faculty from the Catholic Theological College who continue some teaching in ACD courses. A key feature of this new arrangement is the renewal and restructure of ACD undergraduate courses to provide a strong focus on integration of theory and ministry practice, commencing in 2011. The ACD offers accredited diploma, associate and bachelor degrees, graduate diploma, master and doctoral degrees in Ministry in the Higher Education sector. As a Registered Training Organisation we offer accredited certificates and a diploma in the Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. Until 2011 the ACD was affiliated with Flinders University. A new consortium, the Adelaide Theological Centre Incorporated (ATC), takes up this role and becomes the Flinders University Department of Theology. The ATC brings together the Catholic Theological College and the Uniting College for Leadership & Theology for joint teaching and research in Theology through Flinders University.
